Qualifications:
Requires BS/BA in English, science, or related technical field.

  • Certificate in technical writing; additional job-related course work desirable
  • Minimum of eight years' experience as a writer in a technical environment.
  • Expert knowledge of Frame Maker, Photoshop, EndNote, Acrobat, and online help software; working knowledge of Illustrator software.
  • 5-10 years of experience working with complex document sets.
  • Writing skills that serve as a resource to other writers in areas of content development and writing style.
  • Verbal communication skills that include responding calmly under pressure; leading others in problem solving.
  • Software skills that include creating custom Frame Maker templates and online help templates; expertise with conditional text including creating. Exploring and integrating new tools to improve department procedures.
  • Experience using Web Works e-Publisher to create online help, with ability to troubleshoot problems
  • Ability to read and understand XML code
  • Ability to train other Writers on Web Works e-Publisher and XML
  • Effective overall skills that include improving measurable skills of less experienced writers; demonstrating proficiency in time management; leading team writing project planning schedules; defining procedures to improve processes. Expertise in all phases of editing, from developmental through copy editing and proofreading. Strong knowledge of standard editorial proofreading language and symbols. Familiarity with various technical publications and medical style guides and industry standards.
  • Exploring new tools and processes to improve department procedures and efficiencies.
  • Knowledge of HTML for displaying Help content preferred.
  • Experience working in a FDA regulated environment preferred.
     

Responsibilities:
Job Description Temporary assignment for updating our product documentation to be compliant for CE-IVD launch. Act as the lead writer, coordinate all information development deliverables, such as labeling and packaging. The Technical Writer is responsible for producing accurate, clearly presented, consistent customer product literature on time for product shipment; requires minimal direction; determines methods and procedures on new assignments; a self-starter who mentors less experienced writers; uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.

  • Documents suites of products, including hardware and software users' guides, quick reference
  • guides, reagent package inserts and data sheets, online documentation (CD-ROM, online help,
  • Web, using product specifications, information from subject matter experts, and appropriate visuals
  • Creates company procedures on writing documents
  • Ensures accuracy, clarity, appropriateness, and consistency of documents; evaluates documents of other writers when appropriate
  • Mentors less experienced writers in improving writing, project management, and time management skills
  • Manages team writing projects
  • Develops document plans for multiple delivery products
  • Manages the labeling review process and prepares documents for production
  • Keeps abreast of the basic requirements for compliance in own area of work and complies with those requirements. Participates as required in training on regulatory issues affecting own area of work. Brings regulatory compliance questions/issues to the attention of management
  • Promotes a safe work environment. May provide recommendations on maintaining the safety of the work environment.
  • Participates in Environmental Health and Safety programs. Notifies supervisors of all observed hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices. May provide recommendations on maintaining the safety of the work environment
