Job Summary
The Distribution Associate is responsible for warehousing/material distribution tasks relative to the shipment of products. Important note: This role is a combination of manual labour and forklift work-candidates will primarily be emptying 18-wheeler trucks manually, with minimal forklift usage. Candidates seeking a straight/dedicated forklift role are not a fit for this position. strong preference for candidates with both forklift experience and manual labour experience on their resume who are open to doing both.10-panel drug screening required. This is primarily a temp-to-hire (TTH) position, with department manager actively seeking to convert successful hires to full-time Client employees (open funding available).
Roles & Responsibilities
- Process customer orders: scan barcodes, pick cases, label boxes
- Palletize orders: scan, retrieve, and place completed orders on pallets
- Process orders using RF technology
- Verify accuracy and complete shipment packaging
- Perform dock manifest duties (scan completed pallets, operate shrink wrapper) as needed
- Operate ground/manual manifest station as needed
- Manually unload/empty 18-wheeler trucks (primary task, minimal forklift usage)
- Cross-train on other warehouse positions and provide backup support as needed
Experience
- 1 year of relevant experience – preferred
- Forklift experience combined with manual labour experience required (candidates must be open to both)
- Experience with MHE – preferred
Key Skills
- MHE operation (forklift, electric pallet jack)
- RF scanner usage
- Reading and interpreting distribution documents
- Manual labour/physical unloading capability
- Basic analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills
- General distribution knowledge
Eligibility & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED – preferred
- Ability to obtain electric pallet jack certification
- Normal field of vision corrected to 20/40 in each eye
- Sufficient hearing to safely operate MHE in a manufacturing/distribution environment
- Ability to perform physical demands: walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, balancing, crouching, reaching, pushing/pulling, grasping, twisting, lifting, and repetitive hand/wrist motion
- Occasional climbing; lifting over 50 lbs required in some areas
- Ability to work in an environment with moderate to loud noise, exposure to moving mechanical equipment, precarious situations, temperature excursions, and occasional fumes/airborne particles
- Must pass 10-panel drug screening
