Employment Type: Contract on W2 (Need US Citizens Or GC Holders Only)

Required Start Date: 6/6/2022, can be flexible with semester schedule
Required End Date: 8/19/2022, can be flexible with semester schedule
Length of Internship: flexible, but prefer 3 months

School Year Preference: BA can be 3rd/4th year in college

Job Summary:
The Chemistry R&D Intern will be assigned an individual project to support improvement and optimization of polymer synthesis for our Brilliant Violet dye products. The Intern will be paired with a mentor on the Sustaining Engineering team for technical and laboratory training, daily workstream guidance and support, and career development. After training, the intern will be responsible for the optimizing the synthesis of polymer dyes to support a broader Process Improvement project within Sustaining Engineering.

Skills that will be taught: Synthetic organic chemistry, Polymerization, Experimental design, Data organization and analysis, Communication, Presentation Skills, Industry Exposure, Teamwork

Qualifications Needed: undergraduate General Chemistry coursework, basic lab skillsets (pipetting, lab glassware, hazardous chemical safety), willingness to work in red light laboratory

Preferred Extra Skills: Organic chemistry coursework, undergraduate research experience, maintaining a lab notebook

Degree In Preference: Life Sciences including Chemistry, Biochemistry, Materials Science, Biotechnology, and others. Engineering including Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and others.
