Job Description:
- This position will function within the Chemical Sciences Unit of Corporate Preclinical Development & Toxicology (CPDT) and will participate in/support the conduct of nonclinical laboratory investigations of medical devices and materials in accordance with GLP regulations and the client CPDT Quality System.
- The incumbent will be responsible for analytical chemistry testing on medical devices and materials in an ISO 17025 certified lab that performs biocompatibility and chemical testing as required by FDA for medical devices and/or therapeutics and in compliance with ISO 10993.
Responsibilities:
- Conducts non-routine analytical chemistry studies utilizing GC/MS, LC/MS, ICP and other instrumental methods to characterize and identify unknown extractable and leachable compounds in sample extracts.
- Performs sample preparation, sample extraction and analyses.
- Performs qualitative and quantitative analyses.
- Operates chemical instrumentation including GC, LC, ICP, IC, GC/MS, LC/MS, pH, UV/VIS.
- Records raw data according to GLP documentation requirements.
- Interprets results and prepares technical reports on completed studies.
- Prepares chemical reagents and solutions needed for testing.
- Develops and validates new analytical methods.
- Maintains a safe chemical laboratory environment.
- Performs other technical writing functions as requested.
- Performs duties required for the metrology program in BM RAM as well as manage the schedule, vendors, and unexpected events
Qualifications:
- Typically requires a minimum of a BS Degree in Chemistry or related field.
- 0-2 years minimum relevant experience or a combination of equivalent education and relevant experience.
- B.S. degree in Chemistry or related field preferred. Higher level degrees and/or experience may also be considered.
- Must be well organized and detail oriented.
- Must be able to multitask and operate effectively within a diverse work environment.
- Must be team oriented and have strong interpersonal skills.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A working knowledge of computers (including software such as Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, SharePoint) is required.
